📡 LoRa and Meshtastic

Meshtastic nodes are primarily used for sending short text messages through the mesh.

Messaging is implemented on the Meshtastic iOS App as shown below. They look and work a lot like familiar SMS text messages on any smartphone. You can read recently received messages or send new ones. Older messages are automatically deleted when they have been read.

Most messages are sent on the primary channel as broadcasts. The Direct Messages facility is used to send messages to specific nodes. Clicking it will bring up a list of nodes (Contacts) that messages can be directed to.

Sending a message
To send a message, type it into the text entry box at the bottom of the Messages List and click the Send icon to the right.

Note that at this time messages are limited to a maximum of 224 characters.
